About this camp

The UCSD Research Experience for High School Students (REHS) is an eight-week volunteer internship at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) designed to immerse motivated high school students in computational science research. Participants collaborate with UCSD mentors on established research projects, gaining hands-on experience in formulating and testing hypotheses, conducting computational experiments, and drawing conclusions. The program emphasizes work readiness skills, exposure to career options, and mentorship from computational research scientists. Students also engage in regular lab meetings and group discussions, fostering collaboration and communication. The experience culminates in the development and presentation of scientific posters, reflecting on their summer research and future career goals at a celebratory event.
