About this camp

CyberPatriot Summer Workshops, hosted by the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) San Diego Chapter, offer middle and high school students an immersive, hands-on experience in cybersecurity. Participants learn to defend operating systems like Windows and Linux, identify and fix vulnerabilities, and maintain critical network services. The curriculum covers essential cybersecurity principles, cyber ethics, online safety, and how computers work, preparing students for real-world cyber threats. Through engaging activities such as decoding cipher messages, using micro:bits for Morse code, and tackling Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The workshops culminate in a simulated cyber competition where students apply their newly acquired knowledge in a high-stakes environment. These camps aim to inspire students towards careers in cybersecurity and other STEM disciplines, providing a strong foundation in cyber defense.
